FAQs
What is the difference between mild steel and stainless steel?
Mild steel has carbon in it, making it less protected, which allows the rust to surface. Stainless steel does not have carbon in it, which decreases the occurrence of rust present.
What type of finishes can I do with each type of metal?
Mild steel: paint, powder coat, cerakote, or anodized.
Stainless steel: buff or grain.
Aluminum: wire brushed, ground, or painted.
How do I know which metal I should use for my project?
Mild steel: most commonly used, has very good strength factors, interior/exterior railings, trailer repair, and cost-effective way to build.
Stainless steel: food/marine grade and used if you would like a specific look/finish.
Aluminum: trailer repair, exterior railings, ramps, and lightweight option for your needs.
